Zimbabwe July 3rd

Today is our day of rest. I win with 11 hours of sleep last night! 8:30pm to 7:30am. We had a Dittmore first this morning when the kids called us and said they had been awake awhile and had we already gone to breakfast? We were just getting up! They waited for us! Shocker.
The breakfast buffet here, that is included in our room is gigantic! Eric has been in heaven. My pants are definitely getting tighter!
We sat in the sun on our view balconies or the pool area and read our books. Then Sarah Amy and I got up our nerve to walk next door to the shops and outdoor market. We were a little nervous, as we were told the vendors could be aggressive, but also that it was safe by day.
As we started walking a policeman with a "touist police" vest (just like in Brazil) asked us if we were going to the shops. He walked us there and stood outside of each shop while we looked around. Each shop owner stood outside and asked us to please come look in their shop. They were very polite and non pushy. Maybe because of the policeman. When we were finished with the shops the policeman asked us if we wanted to go to the outdoor market. He let is to a big chain link fence. He opened it and had an exchange (sounded confrontational) with the men inside. Inside were a line of shacks with a tin roof. The vendors were all lined up and very very pushy. It was helpful that they spoke English and looked you in the eye. We were never afraid of anyone, just a little sorry we couldn't buy from all of them. And we did have to be a little aggressive ourselves in saying no and pushing past them. We did do some bargaining and buying. The girls bought some old Zimbabwe currancy for a dollar that were 1 billion and 500,000 dollar bills. When the guys saw that they all crowded around and tried to sell them money.
We were really glad we got that local experience instead of being too nervous. It gave us a much better feel for the locals . The other interesting sight is all the ladies carrying random things on their heads and wearing colorful long skirts.
I'll send more pictures when we get a chance to upload them. Right now I can only send those I take with my phone. We were able to pay $10 to use the wifi for a day.
Did I mention how much less the food and drinks are? We smile everytime they fill our wineglass for $3.00 to the top! Instead of a 1/2 or 1/3 glass for $7. Such a deal!
Miss you all. Hope you are keeping cool!
