So- back to our last safari run at Djuma. Greg was determined to give us a good last run and he certainly did. We saw our regular bush sites we found the mother leopard we had been following the night before. She had one of her cubs and was looking for the other. We stayed with them and watched as she called for her cub. We watched the cub that was there play with her and rub against her. We watched them climb a tree and interact with each other. The whole time we were right up next to them. The baby hissed at us once, but mom just looked as us, unworried. She even walked beside the jeep within petting distance. It was a great last ride.
After breakfast we had to pack and say our goodbyes. Lots of exchanging facebook addreeses and hugs. No one wanted to leave and even Greg had trouble with the good byes. Our driver Michelle came for us and drove us 2 hours to Hazyview and the Rissington hotel.
Like the lodge, the rooms were individual thatched roof chalets with nice bathrooms and outdoor showers. We enjoyed our porches and hot showers with views of a valley and occasional monkeys playing on the grass. We read, walked the grounds, ate a nice meal and went to bed early. The kids were definitely in mourning that they had left Djuma and the people there. Lor's of talk about returning as volunteers.
